Massachusetts State Overview

State Directory

In Massachusetts, the Department of Public Health (DPH) oversees maternal, infant, and child health services through its Bureau of Family Health and Nutrition (BFHN). This bureau administers various programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of families across the state.

Furthermore, the Maternal Health Access and Birthing Patient Safety Task Force, co-chaired by the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission and the DPH, is charged with studying and reporting on maternal health access and birthing patient safety across Massachusetts. This task force examines the availability of maternal health services, financial investments in maternal health care, and the impact of past essential services closures.

Through these divisions and initiatives, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health works to ensure the well-being of mothers, infants, and children throughout the state.
